Worthy

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies ? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.Luke 12:5-7

Worthy

There is a mindset that is prevalent among born again Christians usually expressed via statements such as “I am not worthy” or “I don’t deserve ______”. I suppose these statement are meant to convey some type of contrition, humility or piety.  Iget that. I understand how easy those words can saturate our thought process and spring forth from our lips. Granted, whilst we were in sin  and after realizing that we has sinned against a Holy and Pure God these thoughts should be uttered. As former sinners we should have felt guilt, remorse and contrition. How ever we are no longer sinners! We are now in right standing with God and He now dwells in us!

Living in Us – Living in Him

I John 4:15 and 16  tells us  “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him”

Beloved, God loves YOU, He values YOU, YOU have worth and right standing in His sight through Jesus. Before Adam and Eve, before the creation of the heavens and earth, before He spoke ‘Let there be light’ God knew you intimately!  Whiles we were still enimies of God he knew you and loved you and sent His Son to die for you so that you can now be called a friend of God!

A friend, a child an heir has value! They have worth! YOU are important to God, so important that even befor the foundation of the world HE had a plan for YOU!

Grieving the Holy Spirit

Any Father or Mother in their right mind would not tolerate anyone telling us or our child that they are worthless.  Any loving parent would not tolerate being told that our child  was undeserving. We would certainly never tell our child that they do not merit our love or our kindness. In fact, when we hear of such abuse we are grieved and angered. Yet we dare utter to a God that IS Love the same demeaning, abusive words about His children, namely YOU.

IF we, being human, place value on our children, how much more does our heavenly Father value us?? None of us know our children the way God knows you and I. And He knows that we are not undeserving, He knows that we are not unworthy for if we were unworthy and undeserving why would He send HIs only Son to bear the shame of the cross, to take upon Himself all of our sin, to pay the price – once and for all – so that we can now cry Abba, Father?

Fullness of God

We must come to a full understanding  that there is no condemnation, no sense of unworthiness, no thought of not deserving ______ to those that are IN CHRIST! We must stop abusing ourselves and thus grieving the Holy Spirit!

So I echo the prayer of Paul and just as Paul did for the Ephesians  I kneel before the Father,  from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 1may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
